Inspirations:

We have been very grateful for a delightful April, starting with a charming weekend in Paris and concluding with a week at my family's humble holiday home in rural Vendée, France. There, we collected some of our excellent Celtic salt from the marshlands near les Sables d'Olonne. We also visited some fantastic kombucha brewers (La cabanekombucha) just 10 minutes from the house! In between and over Easter, we had a stall at a very well attended, community based little market in Usk and ran an enjoyable workshop on preserving vegetables through fermentation at Global Gardens.

Looking back at our newsletter from May 2024, which was focused on the transformative theme of self compassion, I came across this great Awaken Radio podcast that explores the 8 keys to Embodying you divine feminine energy hosted by Connie Chapman. It struck me as an excellent opportunity to expand on the tools of self compassion we previously explored. In many ways, self compassion represents only one facet of the broader spectrum of feminine energy, which is rich and multifaceted. In this podcast, she goes through some really interesting points:

  • Healing the relationship with the masculine energy as these are both equally needed. By fostering a healthier connection with masculine energy, we can create a supportive framework that allows feminine qualities to flourish.

  • Understanding both energies and finding the balance between them. This balance is not merely about coexistence; it is about recognizing how these energies interact within us and the world around us, ultimately leading to a more integrated and holistic approach to life.

  • Letting your feminine qualities guide your life with the support of the masculine to hold us. This synergy creates a nurturing environment where creativity, intuition, and emotional depth can thrive, all while being grounded by the stability and structure that masculine energy offers.

  • Don't be afraid of doing the shadow work: This process involves confronting and integrating the darker aspects of our psyche, which is essential for personal growth. By facing these shadows, we can liberate ourselves from limiting beliefs and patterns that may hinder our progress.

  • Learn to listen and trust in your body. This notion is echoed by Lee Harris in his book, The Future Human, where he emphasizes the significance of body awareness in our spiritual and personal development journeys. Listening to our bodies can provide profound insights and guidance that our minds may overlook.

  • Integrate your humanness and divinity: This integration allows us to embrace the full spectrum of our existence, acknowledging our flaws and strengths alike, and recognizing that both are integral to the human experience.

  • Practice unconditional self love and compassion: This practice not only enhances our relationship with ourselves but also radiates outward, positively impacting our interactions with others and the world around us.

  • Embody your feminine power: This embodiment is about stepping into our authentic selves, embracing our unique gifts, and expressing them in ways that are true to who we are. It’s about recognizing the strength inherent in vulnerability and the power found in nurturing connections with others. Biodanza, is a great way to do so!

May is a great time for looking after your divine feminine with green juicing. Green juices, rich in nutrients and antioxidants, can help cleanse the body, boost energy levels, and promote overall well-being. Incorporating a variety of leafy greens such as kale, spinach, and parsley, along with hydrating ingredients like cucumber and celery, can maximize the health benefits. Adding fruits like apples or lemons can enhance the flavour while providing additional vitamins and minerals, making your green juice not only a refreshing drink but also a powerful ally in maintaining your health and vitality. Using nettles and chamomile in teas is also very good to reduce allergy symptoms due to high pollen season as these are natural antihistamines. It's a good time to check if you have any sensitivities and avoid exposure by wearing glasses, nasal barriers or closing windows. It is also important to note that while many people enjoy fermented foods for their probiotic benefits, these foods can sometimes inadvertently increase histamine levels in sensitive individuals. If you find that fermented foods exacerbate your allergy symptoms, it may be wise to limit their intake during this time. Instead, consider taking a course of probiotics that specifically contain strains such as Bifidobacterium longum, which have been shown to support gut health without raising histamine levels.

This season is great for: asparagus, artichoke: I love them eaten with olive oil and shavings of parmesan or crème fraiche - rhubarb: I do love a Rhubarb and Almond cake!
