Justice and Truth

September has been full-on — we began the month attending the Aberdare Food Festival, surrounded by great people, good energy, and deep connection. Towards the end of the month we held our second successful workshop at St Peters Community Gardens and our 2nd Fermentation Club ('Autumn Season') on 1st of October at Bacareto, Cardiff, which was packed with tasting and knowledge sharing. I also loved having the chance to practice my Reiki skills with friends and family — such powerful moments of exchange and healing.


Between two eclipses and a big seasonal shift, many of us have felt the strength of cosmic and earthly change. There’s been a sense of endings and new beginnings — something dissolving so that something truer may emerge. Perhaps you’ve felt a deep calling rising within, a pull to retreat from the noise of the world and begin again with greater integrity.


Many are awakening to a new level of awareness — sensing that not everything is as it seems. There’s a collective stirring, an inner knowing that truth is surfacing and that we can no longer ignore what has been hidden. Amidst it all, I’ve been enjoying our autumn sunshine, the earthy scent of fallen leaves, and the beautiful turning of the trees. It’s a wonderful time to go foraging — especially for mushrooms — and to reconnect with the cycles of nature that always bring us back to balance.


October invites us into balance — and yet, this Full Moon in Aries stirs a fiery internal revolution. The Libra scales weigh not only right and wrong, but also shadow and light, mind and heart, self and other. Justice is not punishment; it is alignment. Truth is not opinion; it is resonance.


As the leaves fall and the air sharpens, we are called to shed illusion and return to what is real. There is a deeper justice beyond the human kind — the justice of energy, intention, and integrity. I always love the messages from Zak Bush on that subject. When we act in truth, even when unseen, the universe responds. Karma is not retribution; it is reflection. What we send forth returns in kind. As Sara Landon teaches, truth is the highest frequency — the vibration of Source itself. When we align with it, life naturally harmonizes around us. I love this song from the Rising Appalachia called Harmonize.


We are also witnessing the power of people rising — movements like the Global Sumud Flotilla remind us that when humanity stands together in truth, peace and justice can prevail. It’s time to raise our voices for justice with love, to awaken the collective heart, and to transform the system from within — through compassion, awareness, and integrity.


Truth begins within. The gut — our “second brain” — is the seat of intuitive knowing. It's interesting to note that in French, the "gut feeling" would be translated as "l'intuition viscerale", which means the instinct from deep down. Also to "have the guts" to do something does tell us that our strength and power reside in our intestines. The body speaks honestly even when the mind rationalizes. Living your truth means listening deeply, honouring what feels aligned, and speaking with clarity and compassion. Justice, then, is living in the right relationship with yourself.


This season, it's the right time to support your inner truth through your gut. Fermented foods — sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, kombucha — are wonderful allies for the gut-brain axis, enhancing both digestion and mental clarity. Autumn is the perfect time to use your harvest surplus to create nourishing ferments for the winter ahead.


The Metal Element in Chinese Medicine also resonates with this time — representing truth, integrity, discernment, and the ability to let go. Just as the trees release their leaves, we too are invited to release what no longer serves so we can breathe freely again.

Finally in Ayurveda, Autumn carries strong Vata energy — light, dry, mobile, and changeable. To stay anchored in truth, ground yourself daily with warm, cooked foods, regular routines, self-massage with warm oil, and mindful breathing. When Vata is balanced, the mind becomes still, perception sharpens, and truth becomes clearer. Balance in the body supports balance in the soul.


I like to revisit some of our past recipes, and one that I like to use this season is this fermented Split Yellow pea pancakes. Being gluten free they are great to combine with a curry sauce or some lovely fried wild mushrooms like ceps or girolles!


Practices for Truth & Justice:

  • Breath: Inhale clarity and peace, exhale distortion and division.

  • Meditation: Sit with the question, “What is true right now?”

  • Journal prompt: Where am I not living in full integrity with what I know to be true?

  • Affirmation: “I live in divine justice. I align with truth in every breath. I send peace to Humanity.”


Closing Reflection: Justice and truth are not external ideals — they are living forces within us. As we walk through this season of balance, may we live so honestly that our very presence restores harmony wherever we go.

The Fermentation Club at Bacareto: Autumn Season - Lacto-Fermented Veg: Kraut, Kimchi and Kvass


We had an amazing time again at our Autumn Fermentation Club on the 1st of October. Our guest speaker, Every Good Thing's, Caroline Gilmartin, showed us the art of fermenting vegetables with demos on Kraut, Kimchi and Kvass! We had many ferments to taste and Bacareto's chef, Owen, made us some very special Cicheti with his own fabulous ferments! The evening was a delicious blend of tasting, sharing, and learning in a relaxed, community-centred atmosphere. Our next session will be in January 2026 on Sourdough and fermenting grains....watch your space!
