Inspirations for June 2025:
In May we enjoyed some glorious sunny weather—and the Cowbridge Food Festival, which filled our senses and bellies! But afterwards, I noticed something: my energy levels dipped. It got me thinking…
As we move through powerful planetary shifts (thank you, Pam Gregory, for the inspiration) I’ve been reflecting on how essential it is to nourish ourselves. Not just physically but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. This theme feels especially relevant as we grow, evolve, and deepen our sense of self. Here are a few ways to reflect on what nourishing yourself might truly mean:
Nourish Your Mindset: Words Matter
How do you speak to yourself when no one is listening?
Our self-talk becomes the soundtrack to our days. Practicing gentle, realistic, and positive language is a form of self-nourishment. It’s not about pretending everything is perfect—but about being kind, consistent, and compassionate with yourself. Let go of harsh inner critiques and try speaking to yourself the way you would a dear friend.
Progress over perfection. Every small win is worth celebrating.
Nourish Your Body: Fuel, Movement, Rest
Your body is your vessel—it carries you through every experience. Give it the respect and care it deserves. This doesn’t mean rigid diets or punishing workouts, but rather tuning in to what truly supports and sustains you.
Food: Choose meals rich in nutrients, colour, and life-force; think leafy greens, wholefoods, and organic ingredients where possible. Explore what amount and type of food works for you - not just what trends say.
Hydration & Sleep: Simple, powerful tools. Water and rest are often overlooked, but they're the basics often forgotten.
Movement: Make it joyful. Dance, stretch, bike, walk, lift, hike—whatever you love. Move your body with love, and challenge it sometimes too. Take the stairs, add that extra hill, breathe deeply. I find since I started my weekly Biodanza class, I am much more in my body, feeling, enjoying the sensations in a more present way!
Nourish Your Spirit: Little Moments, Big Energy
Notice the small things. Really notice them.
A deep breath. The warmth of sunlight on your skin. The scent of elderflowers in bloom. A kind smile from a stranger. These are not just nice moments—they are nutrients for your soul.
Practice gratitude in these simple, everyday pleasures, and you’ll find yourself more grounded and alive.
Nourish Through Connection: With People and Nature
Human connection is vital—but it’s quality over quantity. Spend time with those who energise you, support you, and truly see you. Limit time with media that drains or agitates your energy. Choose real-life over online chaos when you can.
And don’t forget your connection to nature. A walk in the woods, your hands in the soil, feet in the fresh water of a river, ocean air in your lungs—all of these are forms of nourishment too. We went to the Elan Valley a few week ends ago and discovered on the evening this lovely Scottish singer: Ilona Lane, who sings in the name of nature and animals, from the Lichen and trees to Curlew and Basking Shark, there is a fascinating story in each song!
Nourish Your Boundaries
Boundaries are a form of self-love. They protect your time, energy, and peace. Learn to say no without guilt. Learn to rest without needing to earn it. Honour what you need, even if it looks different from what others expect.
Know Your Values
True nourishment starts with alignment. What truly matters to you? What values do you want your life to be built around?
When you know your values, you can make choices that feed your whole self; from the food you eat to the conversations you entertain, to changing negative thought patterns.
As we move forward, let this month be a gentle invitation:
🌿 What does nourishment mean for you right now?
🌿 Where could you offer yourself just a little more care?
🌿 What’s one small way you can nourish your body, mind, or spirit today?
As we move into June, nature offers an abundance of fresh, local produce and healing plants. Eating seasonally not only supports the body’s needs at this time of year, it also helps us feel more grounded and connected to the rhythms of the earth.
Leafy greens: Spinach, chard, rocket, watercress – rich in iron, chlorophyll, and cooling for the body.
Asparagus: A natural diuretic that supports detox pathways and kidney function.
Radishes: Spicy and fresh, they support digestion and have a naturally cooling effect.
Broad beans: High in protein and fibre, they’re great for blood sugar balance and gut health.
Strawberries: A seasonal joy! Rich in vitamin C and antioxidants.
New potatoes: Gentle on digestion and perfect in warm salads.
DIY Foraged Herbal Tea for Hay Fever Relief
This calming blend uses wild plants that may help reduce inflammation and ease seasonal allergy symptoms. Sip daily during high pollen days to support your body naturally.
Ingredients (dried or freshly foraged):
1 part Nettle leaves – natural antihistamine, supports immune response
1 part Elderflowers – soothes mucous membranes, anti-inflammatory
½ part Plantain leaves – eases irritation in the throat and sinuses
Optional: a few peppermint leaves (for taste and added cooling effect)
A slice of lemon or a spoonful of local honey (optional but helpful for allergies)
🫖 Instructions:
Add about 1 tablespoon of the dried herb blend (or 2 tablespoons if fresh) per cup of water.
Pour boiling water over the herbs and steep for 10–15 minutes, covered.
Strain and sip slowly. Enjoy warm or cool.
You can drink 1–3 cups daily as needed during allergy season.
Tip: If you're foraging fresh plants, gather them on a dry day, away from roads or sprayed fields, and dry them in a cool, dark place to use year-round.
My mantras for this month:
I nourish myself with love, kindness, and presence.
I am allowed to evolve slowly. Growth takes time and care.

> The Fermentation Club Is Launching!
We’re absolutely thrilled to announce the official launch of The Fermentation Club on Wednesday, 16th July, from 7–9pm!
Our first gathering will celebrate the theme of Fermented Drinks: Water Kefir, Kombucha, Wild Sodas & Wild Wines. The evening will be a delicious blend of tasting, sharing, and learning in a relaxed, community-centred atmosphere.
We’re honoured to welcome our special guest speaker, Alex: Force of Nature Chef—a passionate forager and wild foods expert. After Laure's introduction on Water kefir and Kombucha, Alex will guide us through the art of fermenting drinks with foraged flowers and plants.
You’ll also find a hands-on Fermentation Station, where you all share your home made brews and ask for more practical information from both Laure and Alex.
And for those who want to elevate the experience, you’ll have the option to enjoy a plate of special seasonal Cichettis (Venitian tapas) from Bacareto.
Come curious, leave inspired!

WATER KEFIR
Flavour of the Month:
Our Rhubarb and Red fruit is back after it's success at Cowbridge Food Festival!
Do your bit for the environment and remember to return your empty bottles and sauerkraut jars - reusing is much better than recycling!
Low Carbon Footprint: While Alan and I were working and bottling in our small container at Bridge Studios, we realized the minimal impact our business has on the environment. We use electricity for our fridge and water, but generate very little waste. We consolidate our deliveries both locally and further afield, reuse our glass bottles, and have almost no plastic since we switched our caps a few years ago. We produce a small amount of fermented plant waste, which we are hoping a local farmer might want to feed to their animals.
Happy Solstice season! Thank you for following Absorb!
