About the event
Foraging - with Kim from Earth Mata Foraged Crafts
To begin our evening, we will meet in Bute park in the stone circle at 5pm.
We will go through the basics laws/etiquette of foraging and begin our journey through the park identifying tasting and collecting wild goodies.
Once we have collected what we would like from the park, we will head over to ‘the Atma Lounge’ and meet Laure for the fermentation part of the workshop
Fermentation - with Laure from Absorb Health
You will get a good understanding of how to nurture you gut with friendly bacteria from fermented foods and drinks and how you can incorporate foraged items into your fermentation process.
There will be an opportunity to taste a wide range of fermented foods and drinks as well as learn the basics of kefir and sauerkraut making.
The fermentation part of the workshop will be about understanding the benefits of fermented foods and drinks including:
• Overview of the gut microbiota and the role of fermented foods
• Some great tips about how to help maintain a healthy digestion
• Demonstration on making Raw Kraut and the difference with pickling as a lacto-fermentation process
• Demonstration on making WATER KEFIR and opportunity to buy starter cultures
• Finally, how to use foraged items into the fermentation process
What you need :
• Bring 2 jars of 250ml
• a note book and pen
• bag/basket for foraging
• appropriate clothing
About Laure and Absorb:
Laure qualified as a Naturopathic Nutrition Consultant in 2017. While completing the course at the School of Naturopathic Nutrition she discovered the health benefits of fermented foods, par ticularly Water Kefir.
She has since mastered the ar t of brewing Water Kefir, adding fruits, herbs and flowers to produce a range of natural flavours. Laure also provides workshops and individual coaching on nutrition and naturopathic health.
About Kim and Earth Mata Foraged Crafts
Kim started Earth mata (meaning Mother Earth) foraged crafts in 2020. She aims to make medicine/food and crafts from natural/foraged ingredients ethically and locally sourced.
Kim runs foraging workshops in South Wales where you get an opportunity to taste wild food, learn how to identify useful wild species and forage some goodies to take home.
